Private Tours to Tulum & Xel-ha Mexico

Combine Mayan history at Tulum Mexico, the only archeological zone in the area overlooking the ocean and is believed to have been the largest port for the Mayans. Then the natural beauty of Xel-ha Mexico, a natural aquarium which is ideal for snorkeling.

You and your group go directly from your hotel to the Mayan ruins of Tulum and then to Xel-ha Mexico or just to Xel-ha if you prefer (select which tour you prefer below).

The private tours are for your group only and therefore you plan the day. I just make suggestions. Private tours will save your family about 2.5 hrs compared to the public tour. This time can be used to explore more or sleep in a bit.

Our public tours are $110 p/adult for Tulum/Xel-ha all-inclusive or $105 for the Xel-Ha all-inclusive.

Tours Include:

Air-conditioned private transportation exclusively for your group
English speaking driver
All toll road and parking fees, entrance fees & taxes for Xel-ha Mexico (and Tulum if you select that tour)
Note: there is a small federal fee for video cams at Tulum
Both tours include the all inclusive package at Xel-ha: all food from 5 restaurants and ice cream shop, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), towels, lockers & snorkeling equipment. A deposit is required at Xel-Ha (ID, room key or $20 usd. I always give them $20 usd as I would rather that get lost than my ID).

Itinerary for Tulum/Xel-ha tours:

Hotel pick up is up to you but I suggest 7-8 am

I suggest going to Tulum first, then to Xel-ha. It is up to you, just tell the driver what your plans are, if not he heads for Tulum first.

Once in Tulum you can hire a guide for around $30 usd for a 90 minute tour or just wonder around on your own. If you spend 2 hrs there it is plenty of time.

Then to Xel-Ha where you can swim/snorkel, float down the lazy river, walk through the jungle, eat, drink or relax in a hammock. Once inside Xel-Ha all your food & beverages are included. As much as you want! Tips are NOT included. You can only use biodegradable sunscreen (click to purchase) at Xel-ha.

Xel-ha hours: 8:30am - 5:30pm and the drive takes about 90 minutes each way. Tulum opens at 8am.

Of course, if you choose ONLY Xel-Ha we skip Tulum completely.

Note: The price per adult drops when there are more adults in your group. That's because we have a fixed cost to pay all the tolls, driver, etc. Use the red numbers to figure the price per ADULT. Kid prices remain the same, regardless of number of adults. Kids 40" - 55" tall receive the child price shown in orange. Kids under 40" (1 meter) are free. 10 people max per vehicle.

What should we bring?
Walking shoes that might get wet, a hat, camera, extra t-shirt, biodegradable sun screen, sunglasses, swim suit, money for shopping and tips.

What kind of vehicle do we get? Does it have seats, insurance?
All vehicles have a/c. If you are less than 4 adults or a family of 4 we use a car and for 4 adults or more we use a van or a suburban. The van holds 10 passengers. ALL passengers must have a seat belt. Therefore if you are 9 adults & 2 children you would need 2 vehicles. Vehicles must have Federal highway insurance & passenger insurance by law. If we are caught without it they take the vehicle. I can't speak for all companies but, the price of insurance is nothing compared to losing your vehicle.

Is there a deposit? What are the cancellation policies?
Yes we need a deposit of 20% and the cancellation policy is before 12 noon the day before the trip. WHY? Because we need to book the vehicle for the day. If we wait till 3 pm the day before to cancel the vehicle will have lost out doing services the next day. That is not fair to us or the driver who lives on tips. If cancelled in time, a full refund will be issued that day. I have the most flexible policy in Cancun PLUS you do not pre-pay in full. Cancellation Policy.

Do we go to a check in area first?
No. You are picked up from your hotel and taken directly to the Tulum or Xel-ha entrance gates and dropped off at your hotel lobby on the way back.

Who do we pay the balance to?
Directly to the driver on the day of the tour in CASH ONLY. If you want to pay more than the 20% down payment today, please go ahead and send me an e-mail letting me know you have. I do ask for 3% sur-fee to cover my credit card expense for payments in full.
